BOZEMAN -- Montana State linebacker Alex Singleton was named to the College Football Performance Award’s preseason watch list as one of the top players in the nation at his position.

The CFPA announced the list on Friday. Singleton will be a senior and return as a third-year starter next season.

He was an honorable mention All-Big Sky linebacker in 2013. Singleton, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., was third in the Big Sky in tackles-for-loss (16.5 total, 1.38 per game), first among linebackers, and was 12th in tackles-per-game at 9.2 and was tied for fifth with two fumbles forced and tied for fourth with three interceptions.
