BOZEMAN - Montana State football coach Rob Ash has chosen a Texas high school football coach and former Iowa player to coach the Bobcat running backs.

Demo Odems of Lyndon B. Johnson High School in Austin will replace Kerry Dixon, who accepted a position at Florida Atlantic along with former MSU offensive coordinator Brian Wright. Odems graduated from LBJ High in 1992 and joined Hayden Frey's team at Iowa, where he played running back and receiver.

Ash says Odems is a veteran coach who wants to get back into coaching college football. He says Odems really knows offensive football and relates well to players. He also further strengthens the Bobcats' recruiting ties to Texas.

Ash says he hopes to name an offensive coordinator within the next two weeks.
