FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Montana rallied from a nine-point first-half deficit to beat Northern Arizona 62-56 in the Grizzlies' Big Sky Conference men’s basketball opener Wednesday night at the Walkup Skydome.
The Lumberjacks led by as much as 33-24 on a Gabe Rogers 3-pointer with 1:08 left in the half.
Montana’s Will Cherry answered with a 3-pointer of his own and Jordan Gregory made two free throws to cut the gap to 33-29 at the break.
The Griz didn't take the lead for good until Mathias Ward drained a long 3-pointer to give UM a 56-53 edge with 4:44 to play.
Cherry, Ward, Jordan Gregory and Keron DeShields all scored 12 points to lead the Griz (5-4, 1-0 Big Sky).
Rogers led NAU (4-6, 1-1) with 16 points.
