FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Colorado State’s Jessica Sharbono qualified for the NCAA track and field national championships during the West Regional meet last Friday.

Sharbono, a former Billings West standout, threw the discus 174 feet, 7 inches, good for ninth place. Sharbono previously set the discus record for the Mountain West outdoor track and field championships a week earlier in Laramie, Wyo., with a throw of 193-1.

“Sharbono looked a little off today, but she has enough of a buffer that even if she looks a little off, she still made the nationals cut,” CSU coach Brian Bedard said. “We’re really excited. We feel good about where we're at right now.”

The NCAA national championship meet is June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.
