RMC's Kiprono places 19th in 10K

MARION, Ind. -- Rocky Mountain College junior Noah Kiprono placed 19th Thursday night in the 10,000 meters at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Kiprono was clocked at 32:32.10. Nathan Martin of Michigan's Spring Arbor University finished first at 29:57.79.

Earlier in the evening, Kiprono's junior teammate Ana Richter qualified for Saturday's finals in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by finishing fourth in her heat with a school-record time of 11:11.82.

"She ran well," Rocky coach Alan King said of Richter. "She ran a smart race."

Carroll College sophomore Rhianna Grossman turned in the top time in the prelims at 10:59.83.

Kiprono and senior teammate Megan Breeding will also be competing Saturday morning in the 26.2-mile marathon.

The NAIA championships will run through Saturday and are being hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.
