HELENA -- Quarterback Dakota Stonehouse threw for three touchdowns and ran for one Saturday afternoon as No. 5 Carroll College beat No. 20 Southern Oregon University 48-30 to take over sole possession of first place in the Frontier Conference.

The Saints improved to 7-1 in league and 8-1 overall with their fourth consecutive win. The Raiders, 6-2 and 6-3, had won their previous six games.

Stonehouse completed 12 of 24 passes for 298 yards. He threw two touchdown passes to Kyle Griffith (79 and 20 yards) and one to Anthony Clarke (39 yards).

The Saints jumped ahead 14-0, and led 27-10 at halftime and 48-17 after three quarters.

Carroll's Dustin Rinker rushed 31 times for 160 yards and one touchdown. Teammate Matt Upham also returned an interception 25 yards for a score.

SOU quarterback Austin Dodge threw for 435 yards and three touchdowns. Ryan Retzlaff had 12 catches for 181 yards and two touchdowns. 

The Raiders finished with 559 yards on offense, compared to 531 for the Saints.

Carroll will entertain No. 8 Rocky Mountain College (6-2 and 7-2) next Saturday at noon at Nelson Stadium. SOU will host Eastern Oregon University.

E. Oregon 57, Dickinson State 3

At La Grande, Ore., Chris McGinnis-Parker rushed for 219 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Mountaineers evened their Frontier record at 4-4.

McGinnis-Parker had scoring runs of 3, 24 and 87 yards. He also caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dominique Blackman.

EOU, now 4-5 overall, jumped ahead quickly when Jace Billingsley returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a score.

It was 40-3 by halftime.

The Blue Hawks, 0-9 and 1-9, managed just a 26-yard field goal by Josh Borm.

EOU outgained DSU, 616 yards to 142.

Jesse Carney rushed for 115 of the Blue Hawks' yards.

Montana Tech 32, MSU Northern 31

At Havre, the Orediggers won on the final play of the game -- a 36-yard pass from Herman Tapley to Zack Kinney.

Tech improved to 3-5 in league and overall. Northern fell to 4-5 and 4-5.

The Orediggers trailed 31-20 early in the fourth quarter before Tapley hooked up with James Roberts on a 30-yard scoring pass with 2:20 left.

Tapley passed for 364 yards and three TDs. He completed 29 of 51 passes.

Northern's Travis Dean threw for 303 yards and a touchdown. Teammate Zach McKinley rushed for 159 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Tech's Pat Hansen gained 136 yards on the ground and had a touchdown.

The Orediggers play at Montana Western next Saturday.
