BUTTE -- Twin sisters Kaylynn and Kourtney Coverdell of four-time reigning state champion Fairfield have signed letters of intent to continue their basketball-playing days with Montana Tech of the Frontier Conference.

New Tech women's coach Carly VanDyke announced the signings on Wednesday.

The Coverdells were part of the record-setting Fairfield squad that won four consecutive Class B state championships. The team finished with a 104-0 record over those four years.

“They are both outstanding student-athletes and know how to win in the classroom and on the court," VanDyke said. "Tech will be a great fit for them academically. They both were on the honor roll every quarter all four years of high school.

"On the court, they won 104 games at Fairfield and four state championships. That is an amazing accomplishment. ”

Kaylynn, a guard/forward, averaged 13.6 points a game while shooting 59 percent from the field. She also collected an average of 6.4 rebounds, 3.1 steals, 1.7 assists and one block per game. She was an all-conference selection and made the first-team all-state tournament team.

“Kaylynn is a strong and physical guard/forward,” said VanDyke. “She is a tenacious rebounder and does all the little things and will provide consistency to our program.”

Playing point guard, Kourtney averaged 11.4 points a game. She shot 57 percent from the field, 44 percent from 3-point territory and 77 percent from the foul line.

She was a two-time all-conference selection, and was chosen first-team all-state and made the first-team all-state tournament team also as a senior.

“I like how Kourtney pushes the ball and sees the floor very well in transition offense,” said VanDyke. “She is a great shooter. Kourtney is also a lockdown defender. Kourtney will be a huge asset to our program.”
