Senior quarterback Tyler Hulse passed for three touchdowns and ran for another on Saturday night as Montana Western opened Frontier Conference football play by thumping visiting Montana Tech 38-6 at Vigilante Field in Dillon.

The Bulldogs led 35-0 at halftime.

Hulse, who completed 13 of 28 passes for 104 yards, threw his TD passes to Tyler Murray (26 yards), Matt Lickfold (58) and Beau Brekke (21) all in the first half.

His scoring jaunt covered 15 yards.

In Atherton, Calif., Eastern Oregon University, another Frontier school, opened with a 45-27 nonconference conquest over Menlo College.

Quarterback Zach Bartlow completed 23 of 33 passes for 391 yards and four touchdowns for the Mountaineers. He also rushed for another score.

Justin Hernandez caught six passes for 118 yards and two TDs.

EOU, which scored 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter in rallying for the win, finished with 561 yards on offense.
