LA GRANDE, Ore. — In the NAIA Football Game of the Week, redshirt freshman quarterback Kai Quinn led a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter, giving the No. 7-ranked Eastern Oregon football team a 27-24 Frontier Conference victory over No. 19 Montana Western Sunday.
The game was moved from Saturday due to poor air quality in the region. Officials delayed the game 24 hours to allow smoke to clear.
Quinn scored on a 37-yard run with 4:59 left to give EOU the final margin of victory.
EOU managed 489 total offensive yards, while Western netted 386.
Hunter Thomsen led the Bulldogs with 24 carries for 113 yards. Western quarterback Bennett Gibson was 16 of 28 with one interception for 233 yards and two touchdowns.
Gibson had scoring passes of seven yards to Nate Simkins and two yards to Melvin Walser. Gibson also had a two-yard scoring run. George Sherwood hauled in six of Gibson's passes for 90 yards.
Zach Janis led Western with nine tackles, including three solo tackles. Dustin Pickens and Tristen Clark each added eight. Denzel Maua and Adam Hansen combined on a sack.
