BILLINGS — Montana Western used a 20-point fourth quarter to defeat Rocky Mountain College 50-42 Thursday night in Frontier Conference women's basketball.
The No. 15-ranked Bulldogs (22-7, 12-5) clinched second place in the Frontier Conference standings and will host the first two rounds of the league playoffs that begin next week.
Rocky Mountain College (21-6, 11-6), will be the No. 3 seed and host Montana Tech on Wednesday, Feb. 28 in the first round of the Frontier Conference Tournament.
The Battlin' Bears will close out the regular season with a 5:30 p.m. home game against Lewis-Clark State on Saturday.
Alexa Welch led the Bulldogs with 13 points while Britt Cooper had a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Mikayla Jones led Rocky with 13 points, while Brooke Jones added 10. Markaela Francis had 11 rebounds.
The Battlin' Bears shot 28.6 percent from the field (16 of 56), including 14 percent (2 of 14) in the second quarter.
