DILLON — Montana Western used four players in double figures to roll past Rocky Mountain College 76-47 in the first round of the Frontier Conference Tournament for women's basketball on Tuesday.
Montana Tech defeated Carroll 78-64 in the other first-round game.
The Bulldogs (23-7) will travel to No. 2 seed Montana State-Northern on Friday for the semifinals. The Orediggers (16-14) are at top-seeded Lewis-Clark State.
The tournament champion receives an automatic bid in the NAIA National Tournament, March 15-21 in Billings.
Rocky earns an automatic berth in the national tournament for being the host team.
UM Western limited the Battlin' Bears to 11 field goals. Rocky shot 26 percent from the field and had 16 turnovers.
"We didn't take care of the basketball and we couldn't make a shot," Battlin' Bears coach Wes Keller said. "We got outplayed from the second quarter on. They were a lot better basketball team than us tonight."
Aniese Palmore led UMW with 14 points, and Taylor Howlett had 12. Cierra Lamey and Sierra Bignell each had 10.
Hailee Farstveet led Rocky with 14 points. Keisha Engelhardt had 11.
