Outside linebacker Travis Bertelsen of Rocky Mountain College has been chosen as the defensive player of the week in the Frontier Conference.

The 5-foot-10, 208-pound senior from Wibaux intercepted a pass and ran it back 30 yards for a touchdown on the game's second play in Rocky’s 56-23 home win against Dickinson State University on Saturday.

Besides the eighth interception of his Rocky career, Bertelsen was credited with four solo tackles and four assists against the Blue Hawks. He also had 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks for losses of 12 yards.

The Frontier also honored Montana Western running back Sam Rutherford as its offensive player of the week and Carroll College’s freshman punter/kicker Connor Smith as its leading special teams player.
