Shawn Peden of Rocky Mountain College has been selected as the men's indoor track athlete of the week in the Frontier Conference.

Peden, a sophomore from Billings West, took second in the mile at the Birds and Bees Meet in Gillette, Wyo., over the weekend. His time converted to 4:21.48 when adjusted for altitude and ranks him 20th in the NAIA.

It's a personal best clocking for Peden and qualified him for nationals.

At Gillette, Peden also ran the anchor leg (4:26) of the distance medley relay, which helped the squad establish a school record and also qualify for nationals.

The relay team's time converts to 10:23.73 for altitude, which ranks the Battlin' Bears ninth in the NAIA.
