SALT LAKE CITY -- Senior forward Oliver Gore scored the 62nd goal of his career in leading Rocky Mountain College past No. 23-ranked Cal State San Marcos 1-0 Saturday afternoon in men's soccer.

The win, on Westminster College's Dumke Field, avenged an earlier 4-2 loss to the Cougars in Las Vegas and upped Rocky's record to 9-2-1.

Despite being covered by two defenders, Gore scored with his head off a long cross by Jace Beck in the match's 63rd minute.

Gore now has 16 goals this season in adding to his school-record career total.

Senior Joachim Soderstrom was the winning goalie for Rocky. He had four saves.

Rocky's men will play their home opener on Saturday, Oct. 12 against the University of Jamestown, N.D., at 2:30 p.m.
