SALT LAKE CITY -- Chris Jermy scored in the 12th minute and Rocky Mountain College held on for a 1-0 shutout victory over Westminster College on Friday at Dumke Field.

Jermy’s goal came on an assist by Ben Teasdale. Teasdale played the ball to the right edge of the penalty area where Jermy’s shot on his first touch found the inside of the net.

Goalkeeper Joachim Soderstrom stood strong under heavy fire from Westminster in the second half to preserve the shutout. Soderstrom finished with four saves for the Battlin’ Bears.

The game was the Frontier Conference opener for Rocky. The Battlin’ Bears improved their record to 8-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the league.
