BILLINGS — Lewis-Clark State used a fast start and held off Rocky Mountain College 61-56 Saturday night in Frontier Conference women's basketball.
It is the first time this season the 12th-ranked Battlin' Bears have lost back-to-back games.
Rocky begins the preseason by hosting Montana Tech on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Frontier Conference Tournament. The Battlin' Bears (21-7, 11-7) are the No. 3 seed, while the Orediggers are the No. 6 seed.
Lewis-Clark State will play at Providence on Wednesday.
As the host school, Rocky is already guaranteed a berth in the NAIA National Tournament this March in Billings.
Hailee Farstveet and Brooke Jones led Rocky with 16 points each.
Lewis-Clark State (17-12, 8-10) led by as many as 15 late in the first half and 30-17 at halftime. Rocky pulled within 47-45 on two Mikayla Jones free throws in the fourth quarter but got no closer.
Jossilyn Blackman led the Warriors with 14 points, while Brittany Tackett had 12 and Lauren Johnson 11.
