LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Lisa Hiltula won the individual slalom title and the Rocky Mountain College women won the overall team title a second year in a row Thursday at the U.S. Collegiate Skiing and Snowboarding National Championships.
Hiltula was also the overall national champion. The freshman finished third in the giant slalom competition on Tuesday.
Hiltula and teammat Emeline LaFarge finished 1-2 in the slalom competition for the Battlin' Bears.
Hiltula posted the fastest time in the first run with 53.09 seconds, almost a full second ahead of Lafarge. Lafarge was the fastest for the second run in 49.87, while Hiltula was second. Lafarge was the only skier to be under 50 seconds in the second run.
Hiltula won her first individual national title with a total time of 1:43.38. Lafarge was second in 1:44.06.
Rocky won the overall team title, finishing almost seven seconds better than Castleton University. The Battlin' Bears had a total time of 5:21.76, while Castleton was 5:28.26.
