The Montana State Billings and Rocky Mountain College men's basketball teams renew their rivalry at the Fortin Center on Wednesday night.

The non-conference game, an exhibition for both programs, will begin at 7 p.m.

It is the first game of the season for the Yellowjackets, while the Battlin' Bears enter 2-0 after wins over Yellowstone Christian College and Salish Kootenai.

The MSUB women also begin the 2017-18 season on Wednesday, hosting Montana Western for a 7 p.m. exhibition game at Alterowitz Gymnasium.

The MSUB and Rocky men's teams split games last year. The Battlin' Bears won the first meeting 78-73, while the Yellowjackets won the second game 95-85.

They are scheduled to play again on Dec. 9 at Alterowitz Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.

MSUB was 14-15 a year ago, tying for sixth place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and earning a berth in the league's postseason tournament.

The Yellowjacket returnees includes seniors Kendall Denham, Kamal Tall and Sven Jeuschede.

Denham, a point guard from Malta, averaged 8.2 points a game last season and led the team in assists. He currently ranks 14th all-time at MSUB with 245 career assists.

Tall averaged 6.9 points a game, while Jeuschede averaged 5.4 points. MSUB added seven new players to the roster this season.

Rocky has been led by Austin Payne. The junior forward is averaging a team-high 25 points a game, shooting 75 percent from the field. He is one of six Battlin' Bears averaging in double figures.
