Rocky Mountain College is ranked 10th in the NAIA Football Coaches Spring Top 25 Poll, which was released by the national office in Kansas City, Mo., earlier this week.
The Battlin' Bears compiled an 8-4 record last fall and appeared in the NAIA national playoffs for the first time since 1999. Rocky was ranked as high as seventh nationally last season.
Frontier Conference rival Carroll College, which went 12-2 last season, is ranked No. 2 in the spring poll. Reigning champion Grand View, Iowa, 14-0, is No. 1.
Besides Rocky and Carrol, another Frontier school, Southern Oregon University, is ranked No. 24. The Raiders went 7-4 in 2013.
The NAIA poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents.
Rocky is scheduled to begin fall practices on Aug. 10. The Bears open their season on Aug. 30 with a non-conference game at Dickinson State University.
