BILLINGS — It's a showdown for first place in the Frontier Conference standings when the Rocky Mountain College women's basketball team hosts Carroll College on Friday night at the Fortin Center.
The game will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
Both women's teams are ranked among the top 15 in the NAIA. The 15th-ranked Battlin' Bears (19-3, 9-3) are a half-game behind the 13th-ranked Saints (18-6, 10-3) after Carroll's 66-50 win over Montana Tech on Wednesday.
Rocky and Carroll have split games in Helena this January. The Saints won the first meeting 58-56 in overtime, with the Battlin' Bears winning the second 58-50. Friday's winner will hold the tie-breaker should they end the regular season with the same record.
Rocky leads the nation in scoring defense, allowing opponents just 48.68 points a game and rank sixth nationally for field goal defense.
The Rocky men (15-9, 6-6) also split regular season games with Carroll. Jared Samuelson continues to lead the Battllin' Bears, averaging 19.2 points and 7.7 rebounds a game.
Rocky hosts Montana Tech on Saturday.
