LAS VEGAS — Rocky Mountain College won a thrilling women's basketball overtime game against Xavier (La.) Sunday at the Frontier Conference Las Vegas Shootout to finish the tourney 3-0.
The Battlin' Bears have now won five in a row and are 6-1 overall after their 62-61 conquest in which coach Wes Keller said his team "kept fighting and found a way to win."
In overtime, the Bears led by two with 14 seconds left before Xavier scored to tie the game. On the ensuing possession, Hailee Farstveet was fouled and made 1 of 2 free throws with .7 seconds left to seal the victory.
Rocky trailed by three points in the final moments of the fourth quarter before Jayde LeFevre hit a 3-pointer from the corner with nine seconds remaining to tie it and force overtime.
"It was a great weekend for us," Keller said. "We played three teams and saw three styles of play. Obviously, we are going to the national tournament, so it was good to play games like this."
The Battlin' Bears next games are at the College of Idaho tourney in Caldwell, Idaho, Friday and Saturday.
