SILVIS, Ill. — The 13th ranked Rocky Mountain College men's golf team opens play at the 67th Annual NAIA Championships on Tuesday.
The tournament, May 15-18, is being played at TPC Deere Run for the third straight year. The tournament features 156 players.
The Battlin' Bears are making their first appearance as a team since 2010.
Rocky will tee off on Tuesday at 8:10 a.m. (MDT) and will go off the No. 1 tee with Northwestern of Ohio and USC-Beaufort of South Carolina.
The Battlin' Bears won the Frontier Conference title in April, led by medalist Michael Tait. He is joined by Colton Murphy, Reese Nilsen, Mitchell Thiessenand HoTae Kim.
Rocky is the lone representative from the Frontier Conference.
Defending national champion Grand View of Iowa did not qualify this year. Sophomore Rowan Lester of Texas Wesleyan returns to defend his individual title.
Oklahoma City is one of five teams that has won a national title. Oklahoma City has won 10, followed by Texas Wesleyan (6), Coastal Georgia (2), British Columbia (1), and Johnson & Wales of Florida (1).
Jamestown University is making its first appearance at the national championships, while William Penn returns for the first time since 1960.
