Marco Kummerle scored two goals Sunday as No. 25 ranked Rocky Mountain College defeated 11th-ranked Corban University 3-1 in an NAIA men’s soccer match at Wendy’s Field at Rocky Mountain College.
After spotting Corban a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute, Nolan Sherwood scored just before half (44:59). The goal gave Rocky the momentum heading into the locker room with a 1-1 tie. Kummerle would use that momentum and put RMC ahead by scoring goals in the 49th and 61st minutes. Rocky was on the attack all game, tripling Corbans shots (18-5). RMC recorded 10 shots in the first half.
The Battlin' Bears are now 7-3-1 and Corban dropped to 10-2.
RMC heads to La Grande Ore., Friday to battle Eastern Oregon University (8-4-1).
