SPEARFISH, S.D. – Ana Richter of Rocky Mountain College won the women’s 3,000-meter run Saturday at the Myrtle Hanson Yellow Jacket Open held at Black Hills State University.

Richter’s winning time of 10:42.67 was also good enough to qualify for the NAIA national indoor track and field meet. Rocky teammate Rachael Hart finished in second place, but was four seconds off the qualifying mark.

Other top performers for the Battlin’ Bears women: Megan Breeding took third in the mile and Selene Johnson placed fourth; Bailey Eigh took second in the 800.

On the men’s side, Noah Kiprono placed third in the mile and Shawn Peden fifth in the 800. Colton Wood took fourth in the 400, but his time of 53.90 was just .12 of a second behind winner Lewis Polkow of Montana State-Billings.

“It was a pretty good performance all around,” Rocky coach Alan King said. “I was pretty happy with what we did.”
