GENEVA, Ohio -- Rocky Mountain College will be sending six men and women to the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which get under way Thursday and run through Saturday at the SPIRE Institute complex.
Representing the Battlin' Bears will be sophomore Rachael Hart, sophomore Bailey Eich, senior Megan Breeding and junior Ana Richter in the distance medley relay, Richter and Hart in the mile, senior Noah Kiprono in the 3,000 meters and freshman Shawn Peden in the 800 meters.
"It's the largest number of athletes (Rocky has ever taken) and the highest rated group as a whole going in," Rocky coach Alan King said. "It's pretty exciting."
This is the fourth year for Rocky's distance track program.
Based on times achieved during the indoor season, both Richter and Kiprono are ranked eighth in the women's mile and men's 3,000 meters, respectively.
The top eight finishers in each event at nationals receive All-America recognition.
The distance medley relay will run in the prelims on Thursday night. The prelims for the women's mile, men's 3,000 and men's 800 will be held on Friday.
The finals will be held on Saturday.
