Beau Mulvaney of Billings West has signed a letter of intent with the cross country and distance track programs at Rocky Mountain College.

Mulvaney placed 19th at last fall's Class AA state championships in Helena. As the No. 2 runner for West, he helped the Bears finish third at state -- the program's best finish in years.

Mulvaney also competes in track at West, clocking times of 10:01 in the 3,200 meters and 4:47 in the 1,600 meters as a junior.

"Beau is a great kid and brings everything I'm looking for in an athlete," Rocky coach Alan King said. "He is a great worker in practices, races hard and excels in the classroom."
