Rocky Mountain College will have six athletes competing at the NAIA men's and women's outdoor track championships next week in Gulf Shores, Ala.
The list of Battlin' Bear qualifiers include Ana Richter (3,000-meter steeplechase) and Noah Kiprono (marathon), along with Shawn Peden, Fred Petsch, Colton Wood and Johnny Barnes in the 3,200 relay.
The national meet, which will begin on Thursday, May 22 and run through Saturday, May 24, will take place at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores.
Richter, who is a junior from Billings, placed 10th in the steeplechase last year. Kiprono, a senior from Kenya, placed third in the 26.2-mile marathon a year ago and earned All-America recognition.
Kiprono is the top returnee from last year's race. He is currently ranked third nationally with his half-marathon clocking of 1:09.47.
This will be the first appearance at the outdoor championships for freshman Petsch, sophomores Peden and Wood and senior Barnes.
Petsch and Peden are from Billings, Wood is from Cody, Wyo., and Barnes is from Zillah, Wash.
