KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The women's volleyball team from Rocky Mountain College was ranked 18th in the final NAIA postseason Top 25 coaches poll, which was released by the national office on Wednesday.
Coach Laurie Kelly's Battlin' Bears moved up seven spots in the balloting after dropping three consecutive five-set matches during pool play at the national championship tournament in Iowa.
Rocky, which doesn't have a senior on its roster, finished with a 25-9 record. This is the Bears' highest ranking of the season.
Five of Rocky's losses this fall were to teams who finished in the Top 25, including top-ranked and national champion Texas at Brownsville (37-0).
The Bears, who won the Frontier Conference postseason tournament, fell to No. 5 Madonna, Mich., No. 6 The Master's College, Calif., and No. 14 MidAmerica Nazarene, Kan., at nationals.
Rocky beat No. 24 College of Idaho in a national play-in match in Caldwell, Idaho.
Frontier regular-season champion Montana State Northern was the top team among the schools receiving votes in the season-ending Top 25.
