FORT WORTH, Texas -- Rocky Mountain College ran its volleyball season record to 8-0 on Friday by winning its first two matches at the Texas Wesleyan Hughes Classic tournament.

The Battlin' Bears beat Briar Cliff University of Iowa 25-16, 25-12, 13-25, 16-25, 15-13 and Our Lady of the Lake University of Texas 25-15, 25-16, 25-16 on their opening day of play.

Anna Dewald had 13 kills and four blocks against Briar Cliff. Kylie Nielsen had the final two kills of the match.

Ahlea Billis and Mariah Stiffarm had seven kills apiece. Billis also finished with 15 digs.

Rocky standout Yang Yang went down with a sprained ankle early in the match.

Nielsen had 12 kills against Our Lady of the Lake. Dewald was credited with nine.

Billis and Brooke Myers had 10 digs apiece.

"We had a great day again and battled through without middle hitter Yang Yang," Rocky coach Laurie Kelly said. "The team received contributions from every player. I thought the setters gave us great scoring opportunities."

Rocky will take on a pair of nationally ranked teams on Saturday in going up against No. 10 Embry-Riddle University of Florida and No. 3 University of Texas-Brownsville.
