LA MIRADA, Calif. -- No. 2-ranked Concordia University of California defeated No. 17 Rocky Mountain College 25-21, 25-17, 20-25, 25-18 on Thursday night at the Biola/Red Lion Summer Slam women's volleyball tournament.

The Eagles are off to a 2-0 start this season, while the Battlin' Bears fell to 1-1.

Senior middle blocker Yang Yang led Rocky with 17 kills, six blocks and three aces. Teammate Ahlea Billis collected 15 digs.

Concordia's Rachel Flynn came away with 20 kills.

The Bears opened their season earlier in the day by beating unranked Westmont College 25-17, 23-25, 25-17, 23-25, 15-7.

In the match with Westmont, Yang recorded 15 kills and BrieAnna Geck was credited with six of Rocky's 17 blocks.

Brooke Myers notched 18 digs, while Tori Bertsch delivered 33 assists.

Rocky will continue tournament play on Friday against No. 13 Dordt College of Iowa and No. 18 College of Idaho.
