SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Rocky Mountain College women’s soccer team saw its trip to the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament come to a stunning end as the Battlin' Bears fell to College of Idaho in penalty kicks on Friday night in the quarterfinals.

The teams played to a scoreless draw officially, but Rocky (13-3-1) was eliminated from the tournament after College of Idaho (7-8-2) won the shootout, 3-2. The Battlin’ Bears led 2-1 after three kicks, but missed the next two as the Yotes put two in.

Rocky had chances to win before the shootout as they had a 17-11 edge in shots with eight of those chances on goal. The most dangerous chance came in the 110th minute when Hannah Borgel hit the crossbar from 40 yards out.

The Bears will now have to wait and see if a second-place finish in the regular season will be good enough for an at-large invite to the NAIA national championships. That field of 32 will be announced on Nov. 13.
