The women's basketball team at Rocky Mountain College has added five transfer players to its 2012-13 roster.
Rocky coach Brian Henderson this week announced the signings of Marisa Morais of Arizona Western College, Taylor Ryan of Northwest College of Powell, Wyo., Jaci Egley of Central Wyoming College and Kelsey George and Megan Halstead of Southwestern Oregon Community College.
Morais is a 6-foot center from Sao Paulo, Brazil, while Ryan is a 5-11 guard/forward from Kaysville, Utah. The 5-11 Egley, a guard, is from Mountain View, Wyo.
George, a 5-6 guard, is from Phoenix, Ore., and Halstead, a 5-11 center, is from Hollister, Calif.
Egley, who originally signed with Division II Chadron State in Nebraska for basketball and red-shirted as a freshman, wound up playing basketball and volleyball at Central Wyoming. She was Wyoming's 2A basketball player of the year as a senior at Mountain View.
Ryan averaged 5.4 points and 5.2 rebounds during her two years as a starter at Northwest College.
George averaged 12 points, four rebounds and nearly two assists for the Coos Bay, Ore., school last season. Halstead's background includes stints with the basketball and volleyball teams at Southwestern Oregon CC.
Morais has been out of basketball for two years after playing the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons at Arizona Western.
Rocky tried to bring Morais to campus last school year, but encountered some problems with paperwork.
"I think it's a good group," Henderson said of the transfers. "I think we've got some athleticism in there and we've added a little size. They each bring something a little bit different obviously.
"We feel like they're going to come in and have a chance to do some good things for us."
