Guard Whitney Mitchell of Western Wyoming Community College will be joining the women's basketball program at Rocky Mountain College this coming season.

The 5-foot-7 Mitchell, who is the all-time career scoring leader at Taylorsville High School in Utah, averaged 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals per game last season at Western Wyoming.

The Mustangs compiled a 25-8 record. The Rock Springs, Wyo., school lost by two points in the title game of the Region IX tournament.

"First of all, we think she's a winner," Rocky coach Wes Keller said. "She's one of those kids that just plays extremely hard. Tough. Hard-nosed. She has the ability to score as well as distribute the basketball."

Mitchell, from West Valley City, Utah, was a first team North all-Region IX and all-Region IX tournament selection this past season. She averaged 18 points per game as a high school senior, receiving all-region recognition, and started for two years at Western Wyoming.
