Nine prep basketball recruits have been signed by the women's team at Rocky Mountain College, coach Brian Henderson announced this week.
The group includes incoming freshmen from Montana, Washington, Oklahoma and Wyoming.
Signing with the Battlin' Bears are Courtney Hunt of Billings West, Tana Beede of Joliet, Katie Fitzpatrick of Big Timber, Amber Reeve of Dutton-Brady, Jalyn Walker of Plevna, Autumn Charges Strong of Lodge Grass, Peyton Spencer of Granite Falls, Wash., Bailey Ward of Lagrange, Wyo., and Austyn Taylor of Lawton, Okla.
Fitzpatrick received all-state and all-conference accolades. Beede, Reeve, Spencer and Walker were all-conference selections. Charges Strong placed fifth individually at the State B cross country championships last fall and will also run for the Bears.
Spencer was a varsity starter for four years in basketball, softball and volleyball at Granite Falls. She was all-conference in basketball three years -- and led the Cascade Conference in scoring as a junior and senior.
Hunt averaged 4.5 points per game last season at West.
Rocky has also signed five junior college transfers for the coming season.
"I think they're all going to be really good teammates," Henderson said of his new players. "I think we're going to have a good chance to have some really good chemistry. They'll jump in and mesh well with our returners."
