BUTTE -- Senior center Kabri Emerson scored 11 points and snagged 11 rebounds on Thursday night as Montana Tech beat Rocky Mountain College 57-44 in Frontier Conference women's basketball at the HPER Complex.

With the victory, the Orediggers improved to 1-3 in conference play and 5-5 overall. The Battlin' Bears slipped to 0-4 and 7-6.

Besides the performance of the 6-foot-1 Emerson, Tech's lineup also included double-digit scoring efforts from guard Sophia Baetz (13) and center Kelsey DeWit (10).

Both teams were cold from the field, shooting in the low 30s percentage-wise, but Tech went 15 of 19 from the foul line and also cashed in on some of its 19 offensive rebounds.

"Tech did a good job on the offensive boards," Rocky coach Brian Henderson said. "I felt like they got a lot of the 50-50 balls and a lot of the bounces."

The Bears, who were just 6 of 24 from 3-point range and had trouble establishing any rhythm on offense, were led by the 14 points of guard Brittany Kumm. Forward Megan Halstead chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds.

"Between our turnovers (17) and their second-chance opportunities, we didn't get a lot of shots off," Henderson said.

Rocky, which scored just 15 points during the second half, will remain on the road, playing at No. 23-ranked Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Idaho, on Saturday night.
