GREAT FALLS -- Guards Marcel Towns and TJ Harris combined for 51 points on Saturday night and the University of Great Falls used a big second half in beating No. 10-ranked Rocky Mountain College 91-76 in Frontier Conference men's basketball.

The Battlin' Bears, who clinched the Frontier regular-season title on Friday night with a win at Montana State Northern, shot 62.5 percent from the floor and led 50-43 at halftime. The Argos outscored Rocky 48-26 in the second half.

The Bears shot just 28 percent from the field after halftime. Rocky was outscored 31-8 at the foul line on the night, and committed 19 turnovers to just six for the Argos.

"It wasn't about statistics," Rocky coach Bill Dreikosen said. "They were the aggressors tonight and we played on our heels. That's unfortunate, but give the credit to Great Falls."

Towns finished with 27 points and Harris 24 for the sixth-place Argos, who finished at 8-8 in the conference and 17-12 overall. Towns also had six steals.

Rocky, which won the league at 12-4 and is 21-7 overall, had its eight-game winning streak ended with the loss.

"Any team can beat any team in the Frontier Conference," Dreikosen said. "I didn't think mentally we were that sharp tonight. That definitely added to it."

Joel Barndt led the Bears with 20 points and 12 rebounds, his 11th double-double of the season. Tyree Anderson followed with 19 points and Sian Lane 18.

The Argos shot 31 of 39 from the foul line, while the Bears were just 8 of 11. Rocky was whistled for 22 fouls.

UGF will play in the opening round of the conference postseason tournament on Feb. 28, while Rocky will receive a first-round bye and will host a semifinal game on March 7.
