LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- The women's slalom competition at the United States Collegiate Ski Association national championships was postponed on Thursday due to high winds on Whiteface Mountain.

According to the USCSA website, the women's slalom will take place on Friday along with the men's slalom.

The Rocky Mountain College women are leading the team standings after winning the giant slalom on Tuesday.

The Battlin' Bears are looking for their first national women's title in 27 years after placing second on four occasions since 1996.

On Thursday, the wild Skier Cross competition, which is sort of like motocross on skis, took place as scheduled for the men.

Rocky's team of Jesper Lindstrom, Harlan Collins and Travis Ahmann finished second to a team from Western State of Colorado.

Lindstrom was the individual winner on a course that includes jumps, bumps and gates.
