BILLINGS — Two of the most prolific point guards in Great Northwest Athletic Conference women’s basketball history will be showcased when Montana State Billings hosts Central Washington Saturday at Alterowitz Gymnasium.

The Yellowjackets (11-6, 4-3) will be trying to stop a two-game losing streak when they play the Wildcats (8-7, 4-3) at 5:15 p.m.

It is part of a doubleheader with the MSUB men’s program (11-7, 3-4), which hosts GNAC leader Western Washington (12-3, 7-0) at 7:30 p.m.

The CWU women are led by senior point guard Jasmin Edwards, who ranks seventh all-time in the GNAC with 497 career assists. MSUB’s Rylee Kane, a senior from Red Lodge, is No. 8 with 472. Edwards has 156 assists this season.

The Yellowjackets will be trying to bounce back from Thursday’s 66-52 home loss to Northwest Nazarene. MSUB’s Alisha Breen continues to lead the team, averaging 20.5 points and 8.9 rebounds a game.

Taylor Baird is averaging 12.8 points a game for CWU.

Green is back

After missing a month with a broken arm, Tyler Green returned to the Yellowjacket lineup and scored a game-high 22 points in his team’s 78-73 home win over Simon Fraser on Thursday. The transfer from Humboldt State had six 3-pointers.

Green is averaging 16.2 points a game this season, while Zack Rollins is averaging 13.8 points and 5.5 rebounds.

Western Washington is riding a seven-game win streak. Daulton Hommes leads the Vikings with 18.3 points a game. WWU is averaging a GNAC-high 84.8 points a game.

Rocky vs. Tech

Fresh off its big road win over No. 2 ranked Carroll College on Tuesday, the Rocky Mountain College men look to continue to climb the Frontier Conference standings with a 7:30 p.m. game against Montana Tech at the Fortin Center.

The Rocky women (13-2, 3-2) host the Orediggers (11-6, 1-4) at 5:30 p.m.

Billings West graduate Jared Samuelson is averaging 19.9 points and 8.2 rebounds a game for the Battlin’ Bear men (10-6, 2-3). He had a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds against the Saints.

Austin Payne is adding 13.6 points a game, while Chad Kananen has a team-high 37 3-pointers.

John Chapman leads the Montana Tech men (8-7, 0-4) with 13.9 points a game.

Brooke Jones is averaging 13.5 points and 6.8 rebounds for the Rocky women, while Mikayla Jones is averaging 13.5 points a game.

Shay Potter averages 12 points a game for the Orediggers.
