ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska Anchorage dominated the boards and held off a late challenge from Montana State Billings in a 73-63 GNAC women's basketball win late Thursday night.
The No. 8-ranked Seawolves (20-2, 13-1) outrebounded the Yellowjackets 46-31, including 21 offensive rebounds.
MSUB (15-8, 8-5) got within 66-63 with 47 seconds left in the game but could get no closer.
Alisha Breen led the Yellowjackets with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Rylee Kane had 15 points and Lexi Prevost 14.
Breen was 5 of 6 from the free throw line, becoming the career leader for free throw attempts with 581. The previous mark was 577 by Sherry McQuinn. Breen, a senior from Choteau, is already the career leader for free throws made. She also moved to No. 6 in MSUB history in career rebounds with 742.
Shelby Cloninger paced UAA with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
