Jodi Alexander has been hired as the new assistant coach for the Montana State Billings volleyball program.

Alexander replaces Stephanie Mason, who resigned for personal reasons.

Alexander will begin her new job on July 1.

The former all-state middle blocker for Billings West brings a wealth of local coaching experience to the Yellowjackets.

“I am excited that Jodi is joining the MSUB volleyball program,” said Yellowjacket head coach Lisa Axel. “She is very familiar with the volleyball scene here in Montana. Jodi brings a passion and commitment to the game that will help take our program to the next level.”

A 1994 graduate of West, Alexander played for Montana Western from 1995-98 and began coaching in Dillon in 1995.

She was the head coach for Joliet in 2009 and 2010, guiding the J-Hawks to the Class B state tournament back-to-back years for the first time in school history. The 2010 team won both district and divisional titles.

Alexander was an assistant at Billings Senior in 2011 and in 2012, then took over the Red Lodge program during the 2012 season. The Rams finished second at the Class B state tournament.

She has also coached at the club level in Billings.

“I am ready to coach at the next level and this opportunity to work at MSUB also gave me the ability to reside in my hometown,” Alexander said. “Although I loved working at the high school level, it was time to move forward and take this step.”
