PORTLAND, Ore. – Alisha Breen registered her ninth double-double of the season to help Montana State Billings defeat Concordia 69-61 Saturday night in GNAC women’s basketball.
The Yellowjackets (14-6, 7-3), winners of three straight, return home this week for games against Saint Martin’s on Thursday and Seattle Pacific on Saturday.
Playing all 40 minutes, Breen finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds. She also had a career-high four blocked shots.
The win gave MSUB a 2-0 GNAC road trip for the first time since Jan. 14-16, 2016. The Yellowjackets beat Western Oregon on Thursday.
“I’m real proud of our team to go 2-0 this weekend on the road as it has been two years since we have done that,” said MSUB coach Kevin Woodin. “I am happy for our team. Tonight was just a gut check down the stretch and our players responded with a hard-fought victory.”
Rylee Kane added 15 points for the Yellowjackets, while Grace Weeks had 12 points and eight rebounds. MSUB finished 22 of 25 from the free throw line, making 16 of 17 in the second half.
Concordia’s Danielle Hartzog led all scorers with 25 points, while Bailey Cartwright had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. MSUB limited the Cavaliers to 36 percent shooting from the field and 10.5 percent (2 of 19) from 3-point range.
