Lew Kosich always knew he would return to Billings.
It just took him a little longer than expected.
The Billings Senior graduate was hired as the new head coach for the Montana State Billings men's and women's tennis programs.
School officials made the announcement Tuesday. Kosich replaces Jerry Peach, who resigned earlier this year.
"I am really anxious to get on the court with our kids and to begin getting them ready for the spring season,'' said Kosich, who is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He spent 11 years as a Naval fighter and test pilot and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in combat during the Vietnam conflict.
Prior to being hired at MSUB, Kosich spent the last two years in California where he was the Director of Operations andcoach at the Weil Tennis Academy. Before California, Kosich served as the USPTA Colorado District President from 2005 to 2008. Kosich is a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association and has worked as a tennis professional in Colorado, California and Virginia.
"I am also looking forward to becoming part of the Billings tennis community and to support the growth of tennis here, within both junior and adult groups,'' Kosich said.
Kosich begins his coaching duties immediately.
