Three American Legion baseball players from Billings -- Matt Dillon, Michael Merchant and Elijah Sommerville -- have signed letters of intent to join the program at Montana State Billings in the fall.

Dillon is from Skyview, while Merchant and Sommerville are from West. All are multi-sport athletes.

Dillon was a member of the Billings Royals' state championship team in 2013. He played as a pitcher, catcher and outfielder.

"Matt is a great overall athlete that projects well as a college player," MSUB coach Rob Bishop said. "His work ethic and intangibles will be a great fit in our program and we believe he has a chance to be a great player."

Merchant and Sommerville compete for the Scarlets.

"Michael is a very good Legion pitcher and we are excited to watch him develop in our program," Bishop said. "Elijah is a a very good receiver ... we believe his best baseball is ahead of him."
