ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Matt Eames pitched six strong innings as Montana State Billings beat Central Washington University 8-2 on Saturday afternoon in the opening game of a GNAC doubleheader.

Eames, 1-3, allowed five hits and struck out six for the Yellowjackets. Jake Mills followed with three innings of two-hit relief work to notch his first save of the season.

Brody Miller and Kevin Toon swatted three hits apiece for MSUB. Miller socked a three-run homer in the eighth to put the Yellowjackets ahead 7-2.

Toon delivered a two-run single in the third inning.

Central Washington bounced back to take the second game, 8-2. Wildcat pitcher Brandon Williams held MSUB to six hits and struck out 10 over six innings.

Toon stroked two hits for the Yellowjackets,. Teammate Bret Bitow had a triple, while Miller drove in two runs with a single and a ground out.

MSUB, now 5-17 overall and 4-6 in the GNAC, will play two more games at CWU on Sunday afternoon.
