Women’s basketball All-American Bobbi Knudsen was selected the Female Athlete of the Year for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Knudsen, a senior from Malta, received six first-place votes from the conference athletic directors and three second-place votes.
She is only the third women’s basketball player in GNAC history to receive the honor.
Knudsen averaged 17.2 points and 5.8 assists a game this past season, helping MSUB finish 25-8 and win the GNAC regular-season title. The Yellowjackets advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II national tournament.
“I am very honored to be receiving this award,” said Knudsen. “This could not have been possible without my teammates and coaches.
“It has been an incredible four years at MSUB and I feel very privileged to have played with the teammates I have had and to have the season we did. I have truly enjoyed every game I have played here the past four years. I would like to thank the entire MSUB staff for all they have done for me and the athletic directors of the conference for giving me this honor.”
Knudsen was chosen the GNAC player of the year for women’s basketball and was selected MSUB’s female athlete of the year a second year in a row.
The three-time All-American led the GNAC in assists per game, assist-to-turnover ratio and minutes played. She was No. 3 for free throw percentage (84.1), fourth in scoring (17.2) and sixth for 3-pointers made per game.
Knudsen finished her career as the all-time leader in the GNAC for points, assists, field goals made, field goal attempts and minutes played.
Knudsen also set MSUB’s single-season assist record this past year with 193 and ranks second all-time for scoring and assists for the Yellowjackets.
Her name appears 25 times in the MSUB record book.
