PORTLAND, Ore. — The Montana State Billings men were picked seventh and the women 10th in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference preseason cross country polls.
Alaska Anchorage men and women were the overwhelming favorites to repeat. The UAA men have won seven straight GNAC championships, while the women have won two straight and seven of the last eight.
The MSUB teams feature a new head coach, Jonathan Woehl, for the first time in program history. Woehl replaced Dave Coppock who retired at the end of the track and field season this past spring.
The Yellowjacket men placed fifth at the GNAC Championships in 2016, led by senior Jorey Egeland who was 18th. Tyus Mendoza (41st) and Mark Hovland (50th) also return for MSUB.
Sophomore Nikki Allen leads a young Yellowjacket women's team, after placing 64th as a freshman. Senior Bailey Bomar (76th) also returns.
