PORTLAND, Ore. — Four extra base hits along with four RBIs led Montana State University Billings’ Myrissa Prince to her second-career Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week award on Monday after the Yellowjackets split four games with Simon Fraser over the weekend.
Prince had a breakout week at the plate as she collected seven hits in 13 at bats while driving in four. The senior second baseman also recorded a clean weekend in the field with no errors and 10 assists with seven putouts.
“I am extremely happy for Myrissa,” coach Jessica Rayman said. “She has put in so much work and I am glad she gets to see it pay off. She is always solid for us in the field and I am excited to see her build of a great opening weekend in the GNAC.”
In Saturday’s 10-0 Game 1 victory, Prince hit the first of five MSUB home runs when she belted a solo shot in the fourth inning. It was the senior’s second home run of the season, tying her total from last year. She finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored setting the tone for the weekend.
She finished her first day of GNAC competition with a run and a single in Game 2 as the Jackets fell 7-5.
