MONMOUTH, Ore. -- Corie Holm of Montana State Billings won the women's discus title on the first day of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The GNAC meet concludes on Saturday.

Holm, a junior from Billings, won with a throw of 143-feet, 4 3/4 inches. She was the No. 1 seed entering the meet and won Friday's competiton by more than five feet. Holm was less than two meters off the GNAC meet record.

The Yellowjackets also got a fourth-place finish from Kyle DuCharme in the men's discus. The sophomore from Baker went 147 3/4. Ryan McDonald of Western Washington won at 159-1 3/4.

Anthony Montanez, a sophomore from Lovell, Wyo., placed fourth in the men's shot put with an effort of 49-0 3/4. Frank Catelli of Western Washington went 59-7 to win the event.
