For the first time in school history, Montana State Billings will be the site of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Basketball Championships for both men and women.
The tournament will be March 4-7, 2015, at Alterowitz Gymnasium.
It features the top six teams in the regular season standings. The winners earn the GNAC’s automatic berth in the NCAA Division II national tournament.
The Yellowjacket men won the GNAC tournament title in 2012.
“The opportunity to host one of the GNAC’s signature championship events is exciting,” said MSUB athletic director Krista Montague. “We will work diligently to create a championship atmosphere that generates great memories for the participants, fans and our community.”
The previous three GNAC basketball championship tournaments were held in Lacey, Wash., on the campus of Saint Martin’s University.
This will be MSUB’s second championship tournament, having hosted the GNAC softball tournament in 2013.
The 2014-15 GNAC women’s basketball tournament will begin on Wednesday, March 4, with the men starting on Thursday, March 5.
There will be two games on Wednesday and two games on Thursday.
The top two seeds for both men and women will receive first-round byes.
The four semifinal games will be played on Friday, with back-to-back women’s games starting at noon.
The women’s championship game is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, followed by the men’s title game at 7:30 p.m.
All games will have live stats and live video available at msubsports.com.
Tickets for the event will also be available online the weeks prior to the March tournament.

MSUB will also host the NCAA Division II West Region Cross Country Championships on Nov. 22.
