After winning the indoor mile in record time, Robert Peterson of Montana State Billings will be chasing more hardware at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend.
The GNAC meet is Friday and Saturday at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Ore.
Peterson, a sophomore from Billings, won the GNAC indoor mile in a record time of 4:11.05. He is entered in the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters this weekend.
Last weekend, Peterson broke the 42-year-old MSUB record for the 1,500. Teammate Chase Robinson also bettered the mark. Peterson is seeded sixth in the GNAC 1,500, while Robinson is seventh.
Corrie Holm, a junior from Billings, is ranked No. 1 in the women's discus. A.J. Montanez, a sophomore from Lovell, Wyo., is ranked No. 2 in the men's shot put, No. 4 in the hammer throw and No. 11 in the men's discus.
"We're set up pretty well in a few events like the men's 1,500 meters, men's shot and women's discus where we have some of the top marks in the conference," said MSUB coach Dave Coppock. "We aren't qualified in a large number of events, so we'll have to make the best of those where we're strong."
Freshman Cole Campbell, who broke his own MSUB record last weekend, is seeded fifth in the pole vault.
